Banana Bread

½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs (beat up)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 or 3 mashed ripe bananas
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cups milk
½ cup chopped nuts (optional) 

Cream shortening and sugar together. Mix in rest of the ingredients and pour into greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.  Yield 1 lg. loaf.

  1. You should try adding Cinnamon and Nutmeg to this recipe! Soooo yummy! I tried it once and now I do it every time I make it!
