Autumn Soup

1 lb. Hamburger                                                    
2 tsp. Salt
1 chopped onion                                                 
½ tsp. Pepper
2 cups water                                                          
½ tsp. Basil
1 ½ cups sliced carrots                                        
4 beef bouillon cubes
1 ½ cups diced potatoes                        
1 46 oz. Can tomato juice

Brown beef with a little salt and pepper.  Drain.  Add rest of ingredients and bring to a boil; then simmer for two hours on stove, stirring occasionally.  Or place in a crock-pot for 5 hrs. on high.                                                       - LouAnn Gilliat
